Tom Gwynn joins property reinsurance division as treaty underwriter
Barbican Insurance Group has today announced the appointment of Tom Gwynn as a property treaty underwriter within the firm’s property reinsurance division, with immediate effect. He will report to Aaron Coates, underwriting manager, property reinsurance.
Prior to joining Barbican, Mr. Gwynn was a Vice President at Guy Carpenter. He joined the reinsurance broking firm in 2009 following the acquisition of John B. Collins Associates (Collins), and was primarily responsible for placing North American property reinsurance business in the London market. He began his industry career at Collins in 2006 and worked across a diverse range of accounts spanning binding authorities, ILWs and property reinsurance business.
Mr. Coates said: “Tom’s appointment is part of our continuing drive to further expand our presence in the property reinsurance sector. Having amassed significant broking experience in the North American property sector, bringing a broad spectrum of business into the London arena, he brings what we see as a new dimension to our reinsurance team and I am sure that his market perspective will help us not only enhance our position in those sectors in which we already have a strong standing, but also to enter new areas where opportunities for profitable growth exist.”
