London, 10th May 2017 – Barbican Insurance Group today announced the appointment of Jacqueline Wiffen as a class underwriter for upstream energy, with immediate effect. Ms. Wiffen will report to Olivier Decombes, divisional head of energy, power and utilities.
Ms. Wiffen brings over 15 years of insurance industry experience to Barbican’s Syndicate 1955, including 12 years working specifically in the energy sector. Commenting on her appointment, Mr. Decombes said: “Jacqueline brings expansive expertise in the energy sector to our team. Her career has extended along the full length of the energy stream, given her both the insurance and broking perspective, and seen her work on global as well as region-specific portfolios. Despite current challenging market conditions, we see potential for growth across the energy sector, and to fully capitalise on that we need to ensure we have the best market talent throughout our team.”
Ms. Wiffen added: “It is a very exciting time to be joining Barbican’s energy division. The team are incredibly motivated, and have the wealth of experience and underwriting acumen needed to forge ahead in the energy sector. Olivier has put in place a very clear strategy for achieving sustainable growth and I am very much looking forward to helping to deliver on that strategy.”
