Paul Brown joins marine insurance team as underwriting manager

Barbican Insurance Group today announced the appointment of Paul Brown as marine insurance underwriting manager, with immediate effect. He will report to Simon Saunders, division head - marine, aviation and transport.

Mr. Brown has over 22 years of underwriting and broking experience within the marine market, and during this period has held a number of leadership positions. Most recently, Mr. Brown was trading and underwriting manager - marine at Aviva, having joined the firm as senior international marine underwriter. Prior to this, he was the UK marine manager at Chartis. Other senior roles have included: head of marine at Bluefin Group and marine underwriting manager at Commercial Union

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Saunders said: "With over 20 years of marine market experience, much of which has been spent heading up successful underwriting teams, Paul is a great addition to our marine division. He is highly motivated individual, who combines significant technical expertise with strong commercial awareness, and I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to grow our marine business."

Mr. Brown added: "Barbican has built a very good reputation in the marine market and I am delighted to be joining such an experienced and successful team. Over the last 20 years, I am have worked exclusively in this sector and I hope that the insight that this has given will help me make a strong contribution to the ongoing success of the division. "
