Our claims team benefits from decades of market experience in dealing with a broad spectrum of claims, from the straightforward through to the most complex scenarios. Close contact with our underwriters enables a rapid response time no matter how demanding the loss event.
Working in tandem with the underwriting management team, we monitor and review the claims business requirements. This enables us to provide the service platform and management information needed to support our clients, and also carefully select and supervise the external service providers with whom we work.
Mike joined Barbican in early 2012 as head of claims, bringing to the company the benefit of over 30 years senior claims management experience in both the company & Lloyd’s markets. Having previously been claims director for the London Market operations of a major global insurer, Mike also managed claims programmes for UK/ European based multinational accounts at both a US insurer and international loss adjusting firm. More recently he has operated as a consultant running strategic claims management projects.
James Roberts is the syndicate claims manager and deputy head of claims.
James joined Barbican in November 2010 having worked for 10 years previously in a claims adjusting role at two leading Lloyd's syndicates.
Working closely with Mike Gardiner he is responsible for the management of the syndicate claims team and liaises closely with actuarial, operations and underwriting management to ensure that claims fully supports underwriting strategy and business development.
James is also involved with a number of Lloyd's forums and working groups and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
Alan is a marine and reinsurance claims manager and joined Barbican in February 2014.
Alan previously spent 20 years at Asta (formerly Whittington Group) where he was marine and inward reinsurance (all classes) claims manager, this included managing Barbicans’ claims for 4 years whilst a turnkey syndicate of Whittington. Alan joined Whittington in 1994 when they assumed the management of the Outhwaite Syndicate where Alan had worked for 8 years, most latterly as claims manager. Prior to this Alan spent 8 years as a claims broker and 4 years for the Salvage Association.
Alan is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurer.
Georgie is a marine claims adjuster and joined Barbican in December 2014.
Prior to joining Barbican, Georgie spent twelve years at Xchanging in a variety of claims adjusting and management roles. Georgie started her career at Alexander Forbes where she spent three years working as an associate claims technician. Georgie is also an Associate Member of the Association of Average Adjusters.
Piotr Radomski is a claims adjuster at Barbican, having joined the company in February 2013.
Piotr was previously a claims handler in the marine division of Groupama Transport in London, where he handled marine hull and machinery claims. Prior to this, he was a loss adjuster at Buckley Scott, also in London, where we worked primarily on contractors liability claims and UK property claims. He also worked as an assistant adjuster at Charles Taylor Adjusting.
Piotr holds a CII Certificate in Insurance and is studying towards his CII Diploma.
Jennifer is a marine claims adjuster at Barbican and joined in November 2015.
Prior to joining Barbican, Jennifer spent 2 years as assistant marine claims adjuster at Allianz (AGCS).
Jennifer holds a degree in French Studies and is Cert CII qualified.
Maria joined Barbican in April 2012 as senior claims adjustor for non marine classes.
Immediately prior to joining Barbican, Maria spent four and a half years as a claims adjuster at PRO Insurance Solutions working on both reinsurance and direct business. Maria has also built considerable experience across a variety of claims adjusting and negotiating roles with Guy Carpenter, Ensign and Axiom Consulting.
Gary is a claims adjuster at Barbican and joined in December 2015.
Gary spent 3 years at Aviva, most recently as senior recovery handler, immediately prior to joining Barbican. Gary has built a wide range of commercial property experience including business interruption, material damage and commercial combined claims.
Gary holds a degree in English Language and Literature.
Jon Cox is a claims and legal advisor at Barbican, having joined the company in September 2013.
Jon previously worked as a solicitor predominantly acting for insurers in respect of professional indemnity and property damage claims as well as advising on policy coverage issues.
Zaina is a claims adjuster at Barbican and joined in November 2015.
Prior to joining Barbican, Zaina was claims handler at Collegiate Management Services where she specialised in professional indemnity claims.
Zaina holds a first class honours degree in Law and is Cert CII qualified.
Dan joined Barbican in December 2014 as claims operations controller.
Prior to joining Barbican Dan spent over 7 years at Axis Capital, most latterly as senior claims technician. Dan previously spent nearly four years at Xchanging as associate claims adjustor having started his career at FML Insurance Services.
Dan is Cert CII qualified.
Frankie is an assistant claims operations controller and joined Barbican in December 2008.
Frankie has a wide range of experience across a number of claims, operations and risk capture roles at Barbican. Prior to joining the company Frankie spent 3 years at QBE having started her career at JLT as a claims technician.
