Job Description:

This role will report to the Class Underwriter within the ICT. You will work alongside and support Underwriters with the day to day underwriting and pricing of the account in accordance with the Syndicate Business Forecast (SBF) for the line of business, whilst overseeing the role of the underwriting assistant, ensuring that underwriting administration tasks, relevant delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and documentation is kept within the agreed timescales. Your role will contribute to the overall success of the ICT Underwriting Unit in achieving its objectives as part of overall Company Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the underwriting of business on behalf of the syndicate competently and within personal underwriting plan and in accordance with key targets.

Ensure underwriting files for business written are complete with all required documentation including pricing models, underwriting notes and product risk assessment documents.

Where appropriate oversee Underwriting Assistant work and ensure compliance with all syndicate management reporting requirements, premium income monitoring, Management Information (MI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

Proactively manage any PMD queries and ensure PMD is complete on all models worked on.

Assist the portfolio manager and underwriters in their day-to-day responsibilities as required by running portfolio stats, reviewing income projections and other ad-hoc projects clearly identifying exceptions, issues or areas of focus.

Maintain client and broker relationships to service business in accordance with SBF aims by attending relevant client and broker meetings as required

Lead the portfolios efforts on credit control working closely with the Divisional Operations officers to proactively clear aged debt.

Adhere to syndicate underwriting compliance checks and aid the Underwriting Assistant with any queries regarding quality assurance checks.

Researching technical and market developments including regular review of market publications and the attendance of presentations and events run by bodies such as the LMA and the CII.

Keep up to date with all claims matters and have a competent understanding of the portfolios performance.

Working in conjunction with Solvency II guidelines and within given parameters and keep up to date with all internal working groups.

Working with BGL and Underwriters in compilation and submission of information for Business Planning purposes.

Academic qualifications, A-Level’s required.

3-4 years Casualty Treaty Reinsurance experience preferred; ideally within the Lloyd’s market.
