Gavin joined Barbican in February 2010 and is underwriting manager for financial and professional lines.

Gavin started his underwriting career in 1997 at AIG in the management liability unit before moving to Liberty Mutual in 2003 as senior underwriter for  D&O liability, pension trustee liability and employment practice liability.

Gavin was then recruited by Novae as class underwriter for the non-US directors and officers liability. In 2008, Gavin joined Aspen Insurance, where, along with the unit head, he set up a new worldwide D&O liability account.

Gavin is also a committee member of Lloyd’s Yacht Club.

Sarah joined Barbican in February 2018 and is class underwriter for directors’ & officers’ (D&O) liability insurance.

After graduating with both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Law, Sarah worked as a broker in England and Canada, developing expertise in energy, oil & gas, mining and general commercial D&O. She began underwriting D&O in 2009 in Vancouver, Canada.

Since returning to England in 2013, Sarah worked initially to build a public company portfolio with the syndicate side of Travelers and subsequently at The Standard Syndicate, a start-up sponsored by The Standard P&I Club concentrating on ship owners and the marine industry.

Sarah is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP).

Mark joined Barbican in January 2015 and is underwriter for Financial and Professional Lines.

Prior to joining Barbican, Mark was an assistant hull and war underwriter within the marine division at Markel International; a position which he had held since September 2008 having previously worked as an underwriting assistant within its underwriting support team. Mark began his insurance career at NDP/Claims Assistance UK in March 2003 as a claims assistant.

James joined Barbican in January 2015 and is underwriting assistant for specialty.

Prior to joining Barbican, James was an underwriting assistant at CFC underwriting. James also has experience within broking following a spell at Miles Smith Insurance Brokers.

James is currently studying towards Cert CII accreditation and holds a degree in History.
