Stuart began his career at General Accident, moving through New Zealand Insurance and then AIG, where he progressed from Property Underwriter to become Property Manager with a team of six underwriters.

Joining Royal & Sun Alliance in 1995 as Fire Underwriting Manager, he was in charge of a major business restructuring project. By 2000, he had become Manager for Global and Risk Managed Development with wide-ranging strategic responsibilities, including new business acquisition and key accounts.

He transferred to AON in 2001 as New Business and Development Director, with both a client-facing and strategic management role. Stuart's next move was to the ACE Group in 2004 to work on customer relationship management strategy, taking the organisation to its next level of development. In addition to his strategic and management roles, he was senior contact for blue chip risk managed customers.

Stuart Kilpatrick joined Barbican in 2009.
