John Pilkington has accrued a considerable breadth and depth of experience in the world of reinsurance. He began his reinsurance career with Merrett Underwriting Agency Management before transferring to the Casualty Treaty Underwriting Department of the KR Barrett Syndicate.

Joining Zurich Reinsurance in the mid-nineties, John specialised in Standard Lines casualty business. His range of responsibilities included Commercial Auto, General Liability, and WCA business.

QBE Underwriting Agency was his next move—as Underwriter for the Syndicate 1223 casualty treaty account, transferring to the newly formed Syndicate 2000 as Underwriter for North American Standard

Lines. John Pilkington joined forces with Barbican in May 2008.
