Andy Caldwell is the Divisional Manager for the Non Marine Reinsurance Division which comprises International Casualty, North American Casualty & Property Reinsurance portfolios.

On a day to day basis Andy takes direct responsibility for the International Casualty Reinsurance account. He brings 20 years of International Casualty Reinsurance experience to Barbican. He started his career at Norwich Winterthur Re in 1981, moving to the Casualty Division as a Deputy Underwriter under David Watson in 1989.

In 1993 Caldwell joined Frankona Re UK as Casualty Underwriter responsible for UK, Ireland & Australia. He specialised in Motor and General Liability excess of loss treaty business. In 1996 Caldwell joined Everest Re UK branch as Casualty Underwriting Manager with responsibility for all Casualty treaty lines in the UK and Europe. Taking advantage of favourable market conditions, he expanded the portfolio significantly after 2001.

In recent years he has focused on General Liability, Professional Indemnity, D&O and Med Mal, writing this business profitably on both an excess of loss and proportional basis and over the last 5 years, expanding the portfolio throughout Europe.
