Underwriting management

Our business has always been committed to supporting Lloyd’s priority of maintaining underwriting discipline and performance over the insurance cycle. This enables us to respond quickly to market turning events, manage our aggregate risk exposure and ultimately ensure that our policyholders are protected. At the same time, our Divisional Managers take an analytical approach to managing their portfolios with the ultimate objective of minimising their combined ratio and underwriting for profit.

Overseeing all of this is Mark Harrington and his two deputies Grahame Pipe and Conor Finn. Both Conor and Grahame provide vital support to Mark with Grahame supporting underwriting strategy, performance management and related compliance as well as providing technical oversight to the underwriting teams. Conor, whilst retaining oversight of the Property Division supports Mark with syndicate-wide business planning, broker and reinsurer relationship management and liaison with Lloyd’s
