Barbican Property Reinsurance provides catastrophe excess of loss protection against major natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes.

Operating worldwide, our main focus is on US, UK, European, Japanese and Australian markets. Our clients range from single state mutuals in the US to large national carriers.

We focus our capacity on well-managed underwriting operations with a clear strategy and a detailed understanding of their original  exposure – and in particular, those who value long-term relationships with their reinsurers.

To build enduring relationships, we work hard to develop an in-depth understanding of the businesses with whom we work. Our underwriters make a point of traveling to meet with both clients and brokers in their home territories.

In 2010 we maintained focus on our five core regions; USA, UK, Western Europe, Japan and Australia forming the foundation of our portfolio. We also broadened our USA account to include Florida, California and the Gulf of Mexico and added more geographical diversity to our portfolio, developing relationships in areas such as Central and Eastern Europe and Asia.

In 2011 we will continue these strategies. In the USA, where we will obtain most of our 2011 growth, we aim to further develop our portfolio in the peak catastrophe areas as well as broadening our regional writings.

Outside the USA we will continue to look for diversity in our portfolio.
