Barbican’s Human Resources department, headed by HR Manager Lynne MacLeod, follows a policy of best practice in all employment and staff welfare matters.

We have an open, honest and positive corporate culture in which everyone is entitled to expect fairness and respect, clearly set objectives, impartial performance-related appraisal and rewards finely tuned to achievement.

Our HR programme incorporates these specific commitments:

  • to appraise our staff biannually, setting clear performance goals and objectives which are aligned with Barbican’s business strategy, and provide constructive feedback on all aspects of their personal and technical development
  • to offer learning and development opportunities to all staff in order to further their careers and enhance our reputation for effectiveness
  • to create a cooperative, communicative and team working environment throughout all levels of the company by the effective use of formal meetings and informal staff gatherings
  • to listen to staff views and opinions and wherever possible involve staff at the appropriate level in policy and decision making in order to increase the sense of ownership and participation in company affairs

At Barbican, we recognise that people are our greatest asset and our continued success relies on attracting and retaining the very best talent in the industry. It is an important part of the HR role to emphasise to staff the importance of their contribution to the Barbican team; their personal and technical development is of the utmost importance to us.
